Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus' stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

My review: Considering that this book was published seven years ago I should have read this long before today. It's so great! And I know there are probably thousands of other reviews out there for The Lightning Thief and all along the same lines of; it's so great, full of action, wonderful characters that go through a lot of growth, great settings, excellent plot that is well thought out, and of course, above all; GREEK MYTHOLOGY!!
And I 100% agree with every single person who has ever said any or all of those things in their reviews because that's exactly what The Lightning Thief was! I have personally loved Greek Mythology since I was in elementary school so when there is something written with that as the basis then, I don't know why I haven't read this earlier (maybe because I didn't expect it to be any good).
But, once I saw all these fandoms on Instagram going on and on about Percy Jackson then I knew that it was about time I checked out the series and I'm so glad I did. It truly is spectacular. Definitely ranks up there with Harry Potter (and as one of my followers said: "I found that it [Percy Jackson] was a lot like Harry Potter in the way that the character grew in age with each book - thereby appealing to a wider range of ages." (Credits to @ladycritic for that wonderful quote that, frankly, I couldn't have said better myself!)
I have ordered the next two books in the series from paperbackswap.com and I cannot wait for them to come in so that I can continue the rest of the series! There was literally nothing I could criticize about The Lightning Thief because it's so spectacular! I can definitely see myself jumping on the Percy Jackson bandwagon.
Since there are way more reviews out there about this book, I'm going to keep mine short and sweet and end it here. Although, if anyone has seen the movie and read the book can you give me your thoughts on the movie? I can't decide if I want to see it or not. Thanks!
See you soon!
